*** Congratulations Dominique Lynn ***

After the disappointment of a couple of driving test fails a few years ago, where she admits to simply not being ready, Dom decided to give driving another go……. and did half a dozen lessons to get up to standard. She passed her test in Sevenoaks today with just 3 driving faults, meaning she can now drive her kids around in her little BMW. Well done for putting up with me Dominique – you’ve done it!! How amazing is that?? 🙂

*** Connor is a Superstar!***

Preparing for the Theory and Hazard Perception test was always going to be tricky for Connor Franklin, but boy did he work hard to achieve a brilliant pass this week. Connor felt that mornings were the best time to structure study, in order to keep focus and put an hour aside EVERY morning for this revision. He found that mindmaps and flashcards helped his understanding and we tried to find real life examples of the subject he struggled where possible. There was a big problem with the phrasing of the questions at the start, as Connor initially would take the wording very literally – I feel the DVSA could do a better job with this!!

Connor has been doing a lot of private practice with mum and his driving skills are improving each week, so it wont be too long before a practical test is passed giving him more job opportunities in the future as well as independence.

*** Congratulations Jason Gooden ***

A fabulous first time driving test pass with just 3 driving faults, for Jason Gooden at Reigate Test centre today. He used many of the strategies we’ve worked on in the past few weeks to overcome the high anxiety that overwhelms him on these type of occasions. His examiner today was the perfect match, noticing when he was beginning to get a bit wobbly; it was funny sitting in the back listening to their natterings about holidays, motorbikes, jobs and life!! Good luck in the future Jason…… trust in your decisions matey!

*** Congratulations Sam Outing ***

Well done Sam….. What a fabulous result eh?

Sam had put driving off for many years, convincing himself that he could work around the lack of transport while living in London. But he has been working incredibly hard for 6 months, managing to overcome high anxiety together with dyslexia and dyspraxia to pass in Sevenoaks today with just 3 driving faults!  How good is that???? Sam was under pressure today too, as he’s moving house to the Norfolk countryside next week AND getting married in a month too – no pressure!!!! I’m not sure I will stop smiling all weekend…… I’m going to miss him so much!

*** Testimonial – Kerry McSweeney ***

It was really lovely to receive this from Kerry today, and so fab to think of her driving her girlies around now:

” I never learnt to drive when I turned 17 and over the years I convinced myself I was a non-driver and found myself developing a real fear of undertaking any lessons.

In my forties and having become a mum, I realised that I needed to take a deep breath and finally take the plunge.

I found Lin after a google search of driving instructors for nervous drivers. I’d already decided I wanted to learn automatic in an attempt to make it a little easier and not have to worry about gears.

I was so nervous our first lesson, but Lin put me completely at ease. I was amazed when I drove along a quiet street – I never expected to be able to do that in lesson one! As our lessons progressed, so did my confidence. Lin never pushed me, or made me feel uneasy or nervous – she really allowed me to take things at my own pace which I really appreciated! Before I knew it, I started to actually look forward to driving.

I took my theory test using some practice software that Lin recommended and was delighted to pass.

We then decided it was time to book my actual test – and 5 months later I found myself sitting with an examiner beside me. 40 minutes later we were back at the test centre – I had a first time pass – I couldn’t believe it!

Lin was a fantastic teacher and I can’t recommend her highly enough. Thanks Lin!”

*** Testimonial – Adrian Shelton ***

A big thanks to Adrian for telling the story of his training with 1nfluence Driver Training:

“After being diagnosed with MS, I have had to change to driving with hand controls. I was recommended Lin at 1nfluence. She made the transition to the new driving methods very easy. Everything was explained in a way that it made it very easy to pick up the new way of driving. Lin also made me feel very comfortable and totally relaxed in my new environment.
Anyone who needs to drive with hand controls, either as a learner, or like myself having to retrain so to carry on motoring then Lin at 1nfluence Driver Training would be the person to contact. Cannot praise her highly enough, she has allowed me to be independent again. Thank you”

Lovely news from Adrian…… after re-training to use hand controls after illness meant he was unable to use his legs and feet, Adrian managed to impress his Assessor at South East Motability yesterday. Congratulations Angie Meadows

Dead proud of Angie today, as she passed her driving test this afternoon at Reigate Test Centre. Angie had thought about learning to drive for some time, but found her dyslexic and dyspraxic tendencies and high anxiety got in the way. Over time she found strategies that ensured she was more confident and ultimately brought success. Well done Angie xx

*** Testimonial – Jamie-Leigh Ellis ***

This has got to be the finest testimonial any Driver Trainer would want to receive!!! I’m so happy to have made a difference! Thank Jamie xx

When I first met Lin I was highly anxious. I had put off driving for such a long time but I turned 30 this year and I set myself a challenge to overcome my fears. I had, had some lessons years ago in both manual and automatic but soon learnt that automatic was best suited for myself (Hill starts in a manual often ended in tears). Ironically I loved driving and often became frustrated with myself for letting my anxiety win. Lin from the offset was calm, relaxed, open and reassuring. She really understood my anxiety and dealt with them with ease and such expertise. It soon became apparent that the main issue was that I was my own worst enemy. It was very easy for me to turn a situation into a negative, I would be incredibly hard on myself and it was easy to oversee the positives of any lessons. Often things were never as bad as what I thought! My lessons with Lin weren’t just driving lessons but also internal self development lessons. It enabled me to see how I could deal with situations, not just in driving but in life also. The way I would process things in a negative would impact my driving and in my life. Lin helps me to work through this and see what I was doing. I became more aware of this and over time it didn’t impact on my driving as much. The good driver that I know I am started to come out and with Lin’s encouragement I started to believe it and drive as though I knew it. I have now passed my driving test and I am finally living the life with freedom that I have always wanted. I honestly couldn’t recommend Lin enough, her skills really do go beyond driving and if you suffer with anxiety like myself, she really is the best person to guide you through what I can only describe as a life changing experience.

*** Congratulations Jamie-Leigh Ellis ***

It was well worth the early start for Jamie as she blitzed her driving test in Sevenoaks this morning with just 2 driving faults. Its been great to see her self-belief grow from the highly anxious driver a few months ago!! Strange how one of her biggest fears was taking the theory and hazard perception test back then, but she worked so hard both at that and driving that she’s now a smiling full licence holder. I’m looking forward to hearing about her drive to Devon……. then I will really know she’s become the driver she dreamed of being.

*** Congratulations Isidora ***

A lovely test pass for Isidora in Tunbridge Wells today…… Izzy has been living in the States for a few years and needed to take a UK test, now that she has moved back here with her young family. Izzy only needed a few hours training with Lin and her trainee Jo to get the full UK she wanted.
